Solar water pumps are perfect solutions for livestock watering, irrigation, and domestic water supply in remote areas with abundant sunshine. These systems are clean, quiet, and convenient.
The biggest advantage of solar pumps is that they generate water when you need it the most: during sunny and dry weather. As conventional water pumps are generally energy-inefficient in off-grid situations, solar powered water pumps are a very attractive solution. We offer two types of pumps: submersible and surface pumps
With the ever increasing push towards energy conservation, more people are looking at solar power as a solution. Solar water pumps are one example of using solar energy to conserve energy and save money. These water pump systems use a solar panel, batteries and a 12- to 24-volt water pump to provide water for a home or irrigation from a well. These systems are very compact and include a control unit which controls the pump operation and charging of the batteries.
Solar pumps are popular because they are affordable and allow water to be accessed where there isn’t access to electricity. A common application in the United States is supplying water to livestock in remote pastures. They use solar panels that absorb sunlight and convert it to energy. The panel you choose will depend upon the pump you’ve selected, but 75 watt panels are most commonly used for a pump application and are capable of pumping 75 gallons of water per hour.
Photovoltaic modules combined with a water pump can provide water to livestock in remote pastures. Solar pumps, or photovoltaic (PV) water-pumping systems use solar energy to run pumps that supply water to remote pastures. Systems can range from simple models with no moving parts to larger pumping systems that include inverters to convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), batteries and tracking mounts, so panels can capitalize on available sunlight. There are several reasons for the agricultural use of solar pumps.
Easy Installation!
Many manufacturers of PV pumps or systems provide packaged, easy-to-install kits with accompanying literature and telephone support. More complex systems often include in the purchase price professional installation and service.
PV systems are very safe. Voltage from a PV module is typically low and not hazardous. Complex systems with multiple PV modules and batteries are required to include fuses and overload protection to meet local electrical codes.
Solar pumps are ideal for remote pastures with no existing power lines. Simple solar pumps operate directly when the sun is shining, so they work hardest under the hot summer sun, when water is most needed by livestock.
Batteries are generally not necessary because the water can be stored in tanks or pumped to fields during the daytime. Watering systems can be placed strategically so livestock maximize available pasture forage.
Economical and Low Maintenance
Many PV modules or kits have a 20- to 25-year warranty. PV panel use for crop irrigation systems is very economical, same thing for systems for remote livestock water supply, small irrigation systems and pond aeration are very cost effective. There are no moving parts in a simple PV system, so the only maintenance is easy, visual checks and battery servicing.
